WELCOME TO THE BRANDEIS MEN'S GROUP
The Brandeis Men's Social Group (Men's Group) is a special interest Group within the Brandeis National Committee - Los Angeles Chapter (BNCLA)
The mission of the Men's Group is to raise awareness and support for Brandeis University, by fundraising for scholarships and research in the fields of aging and other scientific endeavors,The group also exists to help men move from the workplace into a social and intellectual society through new friendships, fellowship, interest groups and social justice awareness.
Members of the Brandeis Men's Group, Los Angeles, come from all walks of life. Among its members are lawyers, educators, judges, businessmen, doctors, engineers and entrepreneurs.
For more than a decade, a group of senior men have been meeting on the third Wednesday of every month for a breakfast of lox and bagels at the Veterans Memorial Center in Culver City. Almost one hundred strong, they are there for social reasons, cultural reasons and to help raise funds for research scholarships at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Along the way they listen to speakers like Mayor Eric Garcetti, TV weatherman Fritz Coleman, journalist Bill Boyarsky or actor Ed Asner. Members also participate in separate Interest Groups that include investments, legal, opera study and current events to name a few. Best of all they visit interesting destinations in the greater Los Angeles area five or six times a year. Some of these have included looking at movie memorabilia at the Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts, watching print making at the Gemini GEL print workshop or a behind the scene visit to Dodger Stadium that included sitting in Vince Scully’s broadcast box.
Who says retirement can’t be fun? Our President Stan Epstein and Vice-President Lou Bernstein would be happy to tell you more about this unique and wonderful organization!
